Zandvoort Masters 1999:
The Libertel Dutch Touring Car Championship
Here's Pim van
Riet paying for his insolent driving. The Renault Mégane of Frans Verschuur is overtaking
the similar car of Van Riet. Donald Molenaar followed close behind. Verschuur dropped way
back later on due to all kinds of problems, finishing only in 17th place.
Some laps later Van Riet
dropped even more places to Bert Ploeg in the red and yellow number 18 BMW and the newer
number 26 BMW 320i of Sandor van Es. Van Es collided with Van Riet and Van Riet managed to
stay in front of Van Es.
On this picture you see Van Riet still in close combat with Van Es and Van
Es' team mate Duncan Huisman (#24) in hot pursuit.
Meanwhile at the head of the
field Cor Euser had closed the gap to at that time 2nd place man Marcel Alderden in his
number 3 Renault Mégane Coupé. Toon van de Haterd had already retired his Honda Integra
after setting fasted lap time in lap 5.
The battle between Alderden and Euser proved to be long and grim. Euser was clearly the
faster driver, but Alderden obstructed him all the way and frustrated Euser to no end.
