Modified 1968 Mercedes 280 SL: a work in progress

1968 Mercedes 280 SL - inner fenderFrom bottom to top you see the steps of removing the corrosion from an inner rear fender. First locating the rusty sections, then cutting those sections out, followed by welding new metal sections in and finally coating the restored inner fender. You need to know a thing or two about panel beating to do this this.

On the top picture corroded and obstructing sections have been removed. In order to fit the new engine sections had to be cut out of the body frame rails, the right side lower firewall and the transmission tunnel. On the bottom picture you see the new sections welded in.
